Superconducting Magnet Systems
We offer a range of standard solenoid and split-pair superconducting magnets to 11 Tesla. These standard systems can be delivered in conventional "wet" or cryogen-free configurations. We offer sample environments from room temperature to less than 10 mK with sample sizes, wiring options and experimental access to provide the maximum experimental flexibility.

Scientific Magnetics was originally founded as Space Cryomagnetics Ltd. to design and manufacture the superconducting magnet which provides the field for the AMS-02 experiment. The AMS-02 magnet will be the first large superconducting magnet to be launched into space when flown on the space shuttle and installed on the International Space Station. If you require a superconducting magnet with new or unusual features, you should be talking to us. We offer a range of magnets and scientific equipment using High Temperature Superconductors or HTS materials. These systems come prepared for cryogen-free operation as standard with all the advantages of removing the reliance on liquid cooling consumables. Examples of some of the high temperature superconducting systems that Scientific Magnetics have built, including an ECR Ion source magnet assembly, fault current limiters and the world's first magneto-hydrodynamic drive demonstrator, can be seen by clicking the link below.

Scientific Magnetics has unique capabilities and experience in the design and manufacture of cryogen free magnet systems, utilising both LTS and HTS conductors.
Systems in manufacture or delivered range from a simple 9 Tesla solenoid for laboratory use with a cryogen free variable temperature sample environment, to a large magnetic system which forms part of a plasma rocket.

Scientific Magnetics is developing a range of magnet systems utilising Niobium tin (Nb3Sn) and other superconductors for operation at the highest fields.
The first of this new type was delivered during 2007.
