High Field Niobium Tin Superconducting Magnet Systems

Scientific Magnetics has developed a range of magnet systems using Niobium Tin (Nb3Sn) superconducting wire and other superconductors for operation at the highest fields.

The first of this new generation of magnets, giving a magnetic field of 12T at 4.2K, with a cold bore of 52mm diameter and homogeneity of 0.1% over 10mm d.s.v., has been tested to 14T at 2.2K and fitted with a field cancellation coil for use with a dilution refrigerator system.

Magnets with up to 12T field can now also be offered as cryogen free systems.
